What is a typical day like at the Fellowship?
Each day at the Fellowship is different. The first week is focused on pre-production and filming. In addition, you will be doing workshops with directors, writers, and actors to get practical advice about filmmaking during that first week. The second week is focused on post-production and social impact. There are also group fun activities, a screening event for the films, and other exciting things along the way.
Is there free time during the Fellowship?
The two weeks at the Fellowship will fly by because there will be a lot of work to do on your short film and programming scheduled for each day. We recommend that if you have any other personal activities to schedule them before or after the Fellowship.
Do I have to live in the house with the other fellows during the fellowship?
Yes, one of the most important parts of the Fellowship is the community. The best part of the Fellowship is the other Fellows, and we believe that being a part of the house is key to building that community.
I applied before and did not get selected / was not able to attend - can I reapply?
We encourage you to apply again. The fact that you have applied in the past will not hurt your chances of getting in again.
I'm not a film major, can I still apply?
Yes, we encourage you to apply! Many of our most successful Fellows were exploring filmmaking on the side while working / studying in other sectors. As long as you have a passionate interest in media / filmmaking and have a video sample of prior work, we encourage you to apply.
Is there an age requirement to be a part of the fellowship?
Yes, you must be at least 18 years old by the start date of the fellowship.
Is there a fee to apply?
What are the costs of the Fellowship?
The total cost of tuition is $1,500 USD. Please see our home page for more details, under the "Logistics" section.
Do you offer financial aid?
We encourage all of our Fellows to utilize crowdfunding to help offset the cost of tuition. We do offer a small number of need-based scholarships on a case-by-case basis.
